“You won’t even have time to miss me.” I tried to keep quiet. I tried to swallow the words wanting to tumble out of my mouth. I really, really tried. But I couldn’t do it. After he closed his door, I gestured for him to roll down his window, and then said, “I miss you already.” His chest shook with laughter as he turned on the car. “Now who’s the dork?” he called over the roar of the engine. “Love you, woman. I’ll be back soon.”
