“Kindness begins with us. When we are kind to ourselves, we fulfil, honour and nourish ourselves. We may be in the habit of berating and criticising ourselves for our perceived shortcomings, constantly second-guessing ourselves, putting our own needs last or allowing ourselves the time, space and patience we deeply need to rest, heal and feel content. We may be our own harshest critics, finding it second nature to criticise ourselves yet very challenging to praise and comfort ourselves.”
