There is a commonly seen phenomenon in autistic children where they’ll make big gains in elementary school then regress when they hit adolescence. Or a child will be labeled a late bloomer, seeming practically “normal” in their teen years, then seem to backslide dramatically when they go off to college or enter the adult world of work and independent living.”
